The Texas Longhorns football and
baseball teams have long been the
pride of Austin and the entire state.
But now after TJ Ford put Longhorns
basketball on the map, the University
of Texas is now a basketball power.
Does it get any better than Daniel
Gibson? As a freshman last year, the
point guard was the only player to
start all 31 contests for the Longhorns.
Gibson led the team with 14.2 points
and 3.9 assists per game. While Gibson
would like to concentrate on distributing
the ball, he’ll still put up
big numbers in the scoring column.
Yet, he won’t have to take over
the scoring as much this year with
Tucker and Aldridge back in action.
The assist to turnover ratio was horrible
at best for the team overall. The
squad averaged 14.0 turnovers per
game and only 13.1 assists. While
obviously not entirely Gibson’s
fault, those numbers do fall on the
point guard.
